Ever since the release of the first Five Nights at Freddy's game in fall of 2014, the internet hasn't been able to get enough of the point-and-click style horror games that creator Scott Cawthon has produced for the series. The FNaF series has spawned hundreds of thousands of YouTube playthroughs, innumerable fan theories spanning across dozens of forums, and even a book (Five Night's at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes) and a film scheduled to come out in 2018. So, given the popularity of the series, it would be assumed that the next installment of the games -- Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location -- would be getting just as hyped.
Well... it appears not.
Scott Cawthon's website was recently updated to display this message, which immediately sent many fans into a frenzy. The website seems to imply that FNaF: Sister Location has been cancelled due to leaks, referring to the leaked clip of new FNaF character Ballora's voice. But FNaF theorists quickly cracked the secret of Cawthon's website. Screencaps below reveal the hidden message YouTubers from 8-BitGaming discovered upon turning up the page brightness.
As it turns out, the ScottGames cancellation message isn't about the cancellation of the game; rather, it's about the cancellation of the grand opening of Circus Baby's Pizza World, the Chuck E. Cheese-like kids' funzone at which FNaF: SL is supposed to take place.
It's still undetermined how FNaF: SL is going to fit into the timeline and plot of the previous games (which you can learn about in these two videos, here and here). If you have any theories, share them below!
